Aston Martin One-77 preview

Aston Martin has teased us today with a sneak peak at the company’s latest supercar, the One-77. Not much is known about this car, which has been kept under wraps, but what we do know is that it is set to turn the Aston Martin image on its head.

Currently recognised for making desirable (but heavy) grand-tourers and sports cars, Aston Martin has been secretly developing the One-77 for a limited build run. The difference with this car, is an all new chassis made from carbon-fibre, which along with aluminium panels will keep weight to a minimum.

Aston Martin One-77Also new is a 7.0-litre V12 which Aston Martin says will offer “exhilarating performance for a strictly limited number of discerning customers.” The name, refers to “One of 77″ as implied by its new website - www.one-of-77.com

The company says that the One-77 is “the ultimate creative interpretation of the renowned British marque.” With a price-tag said to be around the £1 million mark, the hand-built supercar is said to be very special.

A front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout appears to be used, and although Aston Martin is cagey about the details, CarAdvice believes the engine to be an enlarged version of the existing 6-litre V12 used in the DBS.

The transmission is also unknown, but it’s obviously going to have to be able to handle enough grunt to rocket the car from 0-100km/h in a mooted 3.5 seconds. Top speed is also projected to be over 320km/h. Right and left-hand drive versions will be available, with Aston Martin Australia confirming that an Australian spec car would be on the cards if there was sufficient interest (read: money put on the table).

The forthcoming Paris Motor Show seems to be the expected reveal of the car, and CarAdvice will bring you pictures and more details as soon as they come to hand.

smart car blasts away opposition in Cannonball Run

A smart fortwo gave its high-powered opposition plenty of ‘fuel for thought’ when it sprinted to victory in the Cannonball Run – a 3,000-mile dash across Europe inspired by the famous 80s film starring Burt Reynolds.

BMW PAS Latest Spy Photos

Once again spy photographers have stumbled across the new 5-series-based BMW Progressive Activity Sedan (PAS), also known as V-Series or RFK, in the American desert and showing frameless doors for the first time.

In its early stages of development BMW's PAS was falsely pegged as Munich’s answer to the Mercedes R class, much in the same way the X6 was falsely pegged as a Mercedes CLS competitor. But now, these spy-shots of the PAS clearly show it’s a true fastback, allowing more headroom than in the X6 while being significantly smaller than the Mercedes R-Class. This car-like approach seen on this prototype seems better-suited to BMW’s values than a full-size van, and although these spy-photos do not reveal all of the car’s design, enthusiasts might be a bit disappointed by the car’s rational coupe like design.

The V-Series, PAS, RFK or whatever you want to call it, is expected to debut in September 2009 at IAA in Frankfurt.

$4230.36 Donated to Homes For Our Troops at American Muscle's Annual Charity Picnic

On Saturday July 12th, 2008, American Muscle held its annual company picnic and charity fund raiser. Once again, this year's charity
foundation was Homes For Our Troops which is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping those with
serious disabilities and injuries.

This organization is committed to assisting those who have returned from their service to our country severely injured, and their immediate families, by raising donations of money, building materials, and
professional labor to build a new home or adapt an existing home for handicapped accessibility.

American Muscle Charity Picnic

The Breakdown:
  • Mustang Parts Sales Donation (5% Sales Durring The Event) - $3615.36
  • Additional Company Donation - $500.00

  • Phone Donations - $ 115.00

  • Grand Total - $ 4230.36
In addition to our annual charity fundraiser, this event was also our annual company picnic! A variety of fun activities, massive food consumption of previously unthinkable proportions, and shenanigans
pursued including "American Gladiator" style jousting, expert mechanical bull riding, dunk tank dunking of boss, horseshoeing, a limbo contest 'How low can you go?', and of course the creme de la creme of
picnic activities... the office employee versus the warehouse employee TUG OF WAR!

You can check out the pictures of the American Muscle crew cutting
loose on our blog, and keep an eye out for next year's fundraiser picnic to help make it a bigger success!

Lotus introduces ‘Safe & Sound’ Hybrid

Lotus Engineering, the world renowned automotive consultancy division of Lotus, has developed technologies to synthesise external sound on electric and hybrid vehicles to counteract the growing concern these ‘quiet’ vehicles pose to pedestrians and cyclists. A simulation of a real engine sound is used on the ‘Safe & Sound’ Hybrid technology demonstrator vehicle, making it instantly recognisable that the vehicle is in motion.
