Favourite wheels: Billy

After chatting about lying awake at night thinking about wheels I thought I'd share my favourites. Everyone has theirs. These are mine. So in no particular order..

I don't know what the hell these are called. I've only ever seen them on this super silhouette. I'm guessing they're SSR. Whatever they are they're amazing. Check out the rears! OOOF!
I think these are Work Ewing. Very similar to Weds Albino. Anyway.. LOVE THESE!

I've started collecting the bits I need for Cressylicious. Got a good lead on an engine and there's some nifty JZX73 engine mounts on their way.

It's a way off yet but, I'm still finding myself lying awake at night thinking about wheel choices and offsets.. At the moment I'm feeling dishy 16"s. Flush at the front, tucked at the back and on the deck. Like so..

..and his cool A55 Daihatsu Charmant.


There are a lot of things right with this car. Old school, subtle, clean, low, dishy equips and a highly tuned, high revving 4AGE. It's a bit of a unicorn car too. I only had a couple of pictures of it in my collection until very recently when some rare video footage of it in action surfaced on Driftworks. I gained a couple of extra pictures but was shocked to learn it's driver, Ryoji Takada, tragically died in an accident driving a truck. After some further research I learnt more about this very talented and well respected driver. The internet is dusted with touching tributes and respect for him and his style.
So here is my little tribute.. Ryoji Takada, hats off to you sir! R.I.P.

Inspiration: Fanki's R31

First inspiration post from me. This is the kind of car that gets
Sweet Oblivion appreciation.



A R31 Nissan Skyline from the land of Aus. It began it's life as a humble budget drifter. With some focused performance modifications and some truly man-spec wheel fiment, it evolved into a very sexy machine. It's rockin a boosted old school SOHC RB30 running 303 bhp, lots of bits of cefiro, rose jointed everything and 15x10 -26 at each corner.



Recent developments involve upgrading to a gearbox from a RB25 as it was chewing up the old ones and a fresh lick of paint.



And as if that wasn't enough.. Check out his team mates car. With a JZ hiding under the bonnet no less!

I'm Matt, Mattyboi to everyone. I'm at uni studying motorsport engineering. Like Billy, I'm a massive music, movie, car modifying and drifting fan. I've been drifting for five years, done a few comps, a few demos but mainly love just hanging out with my friends and drifting together.

I love oldskool looking drift cars, form over function or anything just plain cool. Low, fast and hardcore. Drifting's about building cool as fuck cars and being as badass on track as possible, MSC style!

I'm rocking an RX7 FC at the moment, Project Buster!

No mods so far and its going to be kept simple, boro style. Comfy, sounds, bucket, coilovers, welded diff and slammed on R33 GTR rims. Simple and effective streeto and track car. The car is a great base for a project, 36,000 miles from new and in mint condition. I'll keep you posted as I go, might take awhile as FC parts are like gold dust!!!

Greetings and salutations! I'm a 28 year old graphic communications student studying at Norwich UCA. like anyone with half a grain of taste I love cars, films, music, the beach and anything old school.

this is my current project. It's a 1989 RX73 Toyota Cressida nick-named, Cressylicious..


I'll start posting my progress and show you some of the things that inspire me very soon!

Sweet Oblivion..

..what's this then?

Well, physically it's a blog written by two guys who became friends through a love of Japanese cars and spirited driving.


mentally it's a feeling, a style and an attitude towards modifying and driving cars.

"Sweet oblivion, open your arms.." is a quote taken from the play, Hamlet. However, as credible and high-brow as that sounds, I first heard it here..



haha! i love all the blood and the big smile on Gomez's face. it's a silly place to get an idea from but, that line chimed like a giant bell in my mind. the thinking behind it being that you cry out,
"Sweet oblivion, open your arms.." as you throw all your hard work, hard spent money and yourself, sideways at stupid speed into a corner.


as we write this blog we hope to build up a clear image of our vision and take you with us on our journey as we work on and drive our machines.
